Fan, Demo Team
I am an avid Looney labs fan and play the many many different version of fluxx with friends every week as well as chrononaughts and back to the future as well as an occasional aquarius game.
I love to play games be it board games, card games and even video games. I prefer the obscure to the super popular mass market games. I am also a bit of a "plastic addict", meaning that I collect toys. I mostly collect Transformers, GI Joes and Marvel Universe but have been known to succumb to many many forms of collecting.
Fluxx, Time Travel Games, Aquarius, Are You a Werewolf?

Custom Cards

UPDATE: I just put up all new custom cards with fixes and borders to help cut them out once printed.

I have been working on making custom cards lately. Please let me know what you think or if you have an idea for a custom card that you would either like or just like to see put it in my comments :-D

Chris Wilkerson's Event Reports

They all leave in madness!!

I received my demo kit rite before going out of town for a wedding so I had to bring it along!! When I arrived at the wedding destination in Oregon I just had to get a group of people together to play this along with some other colorfully fun games CAH if you know what that is ;-). There was 8 of us who played, all Fluxx veterans and it was a HIT! I think more people tried to cause ungoals than actually win but everyone had a blast.

Fast forward passed the weekend and I was…

Weekly Game Night

I had another Fluxx themed game night. We played all manor of Fluxx from 3.1 and after. The big hit of the night was definitely Pirate Fluxx though!

We set it up with all the non deck specific promo cards where set aside at the beginning of each game and we would go around the table picking a couple promo cards to add into each deck. The expansion was added without fail every time though :-D. The one time that board game came up and someone won we ended up…

Pirate Fluxx

Had a small game night on Sunday night. We mostly played PC games but at the end of the evening I was able to teach a few new people how to play Pirate Fluxx. We have 7 in total and it was a lot of fun. The game lasted quite a while because people where holding onto the surprises and stopped someone from winning multiple times including myself.

I'm planning on making some custom Fluxx cards as a Christmas present and it looks like you're the person to talk to about them!

The problem is that I don't have access to a scanner, so I was wondering if you could do me a huge favour and send me scans of the Fluxx Blanxx cards (Goal, Keeper, Creeper, Rule and Action) as well as the artwork for the following Keepers:

- Money
- Party
- Time
- Eye
- Brain
- Peace
- Dreams

Thanks very much for any help you can give!

Thanks for your remarks, and I'm glad you like Builders of R'lyeh. I was playing it last night too! We got in three four-handed games, and each was progressively crazier.

While I really appreciate your feedback, I don't think I'll change the rules as they stand. To be specific:

There are times when you are unable to complete an action, mostly at the start of the game, no rules are in place for this so what we did was just use that as a skip turn action.

That is actually specified in the rules already. In the text at the very end of the "Turn Play" section, it reads:

In any case where a player cannot follow the instructions for the roll, that player passes the remainder of the turn. It is not possible to play a skew, an arrange, or an ascend at the very start of the game, for instance. And sometimes it will be prudent to pass rather than to attempt an ascend when all it is likely to do is knock over pieces.

It feels like the "wierd" placement of pieces isnt a very fun mechanic and that maybe the spot on the dice would be better suited with another add floor action. This would give the die a third add floor action, possible a force new building by adding a floor would be an interesting idea.

Playing a skew can be a real challenge, and takes some creativity. But it makes some real contributions to the game:

  1. Skewing on top of a stack effectively "closes" that stack to further spiring when it is the highest structure on the table, and thus a focus for competitive building. Thus it forces subsequent play to build up other structures. (See the "Tactical Notes" in the rules.)
  2. Weird pieces are almost always the least stable ones in play, and they enhance the dexterity element of the game.
  3. Weird pieces are aesthetically important to the "wrong geometry" of R'lyeh!

All that said, it is important that the chance of a skew be only 1 in 12. My least favorite game play is when there is a long run of bricking, which can get somewhat dull. But I have never yet played a game of Builders that hasn't coughed up something entertaining.

Thanks again!
