ABOUT MY HISTORY WITH LOONEY LABS...
I discovered Fluxx circa 2003. Sometime later, I bought Pyramids.
HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT LOONEY LABS?
I enjoy playing games, drawing, writing, cooking, and other stuff besides. I have designed a few games; my most successful one has been the Decktet, a deck of cross-suited cards with illustrations on them.
LOONEY LABS GAMES I PLAY/PROMOTE:
Fluxx, Looney Pyramids, Time Travel Games

P.D. Magnus replied to Bruno Curfs's discussion 'The Winning Rule in Zendo and the Zen Nature of the Buddha Nature'
"Don't let this thread put you off Zendo. The issue raised in this thread can't actually come up, and Zendo is a great game."

P.D. Magnus replied to Bruno Curfs's discussion 'Zendo: No Pyramid, Added Attribute'
"We use the opaque pyramids in the usual way, treating them as pyramids in the koans.Of course, the same arrangements you have in mind could be covered by the rule "All non-opaque pyramids of the koan are ungrounded and weird.""

P.D. Magnus replied to Bruno Curfs's discussion 'The Winning Rule in Zendo and the Zen Nature of the Buddha Nature'
"Formulation 1 of the Winning Rule could be repaired by changing "logically equivalent" to "equivalent for all constructable koans". Depending on how we define the logical space of the game, there may be logically possible koans…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion '22 Other Games to Mention'
"OK, I'm really looking forward to Verticality. As I said, CrackeD Ice is probably my second most-played pyramid game (behind Zendo)."

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion '22 Other Games to Mention'
"I'm surprised by the selection of Pyramid Shambo over Nothing Beats a Large, so I nominate Nothing. (At the very least, it has a great title.) One of our favorite pyramid games is CrackeD Ice, so I nominate it also. It just requires one extra…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion 'Pyramid Arcade'
"Another example is Hearts. I've seen some old books about cardgames which say that only Hearts are point cards in "Hearts", and that the game is called something else (like "Black Mariah") if the Queen of Spades scores. Now…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion 'Pyramid Arcade'
"I'd also favor saying that Fiesta Caldera is a version of Volcano, rather than being "not Volcano". There are at least three ways to play Volcano (original recipe, caldera, and fiesta) which differ in requiring different distributions…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion 'Pyramid Arcade'
"After you suggested, "Looney Ludo" seems obvious. It also at least has a chance of approximately conveying the game play (to someone who knows what Ludo is) whereas Home Run and Get Back don't. For what it's worth: Home Run…"

"A quotidian possibility for Martian Coasters would be something like "Pyramid Ludo", since it's always struck me as being a highly dynamic relative of Pachisi/Ludo/Mensch. If you were willing to keep "Martian", then…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Andrew Looney's discussion 'Pyramid Arcade'
"The game is about trying to navigate land masses that are moving around all the time. What about "Tectonics"?"

P.D. Magnus replied to Shane Tilton's discussion 'Regaining access to icehousegames.org'
"A further advantage to moving to a new platform would be that it could be called something like "The Pyramid Wiki", reflecting the name change for the system. Then there could be a site newsletter on Wednesday. The Pyramid Wiki…"

P.D. Magnus replied to Shane Tilton's discussion 'Regaining access to icehousegames.org'
"Isn't it really time to migrate the content to a new platform? As a bonus, admin privileges could be given to someone at Looney Labs so that it wouldn't go all ghost town in the future."

P.D. Magnus replied to Kevin L.'s discussion 'Wanted: Gray Pyramid Stash - Finally Found!'
"Lots of people in this thread say that more opaque colours would be great to allow three or four players in games with hidden information. I guess the idea is that it would be like Black Ice, with the hidden information inside an opaque…"

"I confess that I'm more puzzled than anything. This custom deck doesn't just provide more explicit instructions on the cards. It also changes the game. With this custom deck, there are 9 special defense cards. I guess "attack…"
