Yeah, I know, not quite an event, but I felt like reactions are important. I can barely beg my family to play 7 Wonders and others in that level of complexity, yet I managed to talk my father into a game of IceDice in a matter of minutes, which led into a game with my mom and after she played one with my sister; I didn't even teach during that one. That opened people up to a 3-person game of Launchpad.
Just last night I played 1v1 in Fluxx with my sister, and where she usually…Continue
I ran two demo events with promo cards going to all participants and a poster to the eventual game…

Kristin and I took a road trip to Chittenango, NY (just outside Syracuse) for an event called Oz-Stravaganza, and we had a wonderful time.
This was a very different event from the game and media conventions we're used to attending. Those are held at convention centers in big cities, whereas Oz-Stravaganza…

Kristin and I were the Gaming Guests of Honor at MidSouthCon, a sci-fi convention held in Memphis, Tennessee, and we had a splendid time.
We were featured in a bunch of panel discussions, parties, and meet-and-greets. I was featured on 2 panels, one about the perfect villain, and the other about the…
Kristin and I were the Gaming Guests of Honor at LunaCon, a sci-fi convention held in New York, and we had a great time.
We ran several events during the weekend. On the first night, we did an Oz Fluxx preview event. It being a week before the release, everyone was eager to try out the new game, and…

Every Tuesday night, my friendly local gaming store hosts an Open Game night, in which they offer up their open copies of any games for all to play. They also encourage folks to bring their own games; all in an effort to get the gamers access to any game they're interested in playing. Because the player requirements vary by game, there are always a handful of extra players willing to try something new.
So, every Tuesday since I received my Cthulhu Fluxx demo kit, I've…Continue

Five new players: one was even new to the church, having come to this public event expressly to play Fluxx! We warmed up with a game of Builders of R'lyeh, so that I could show off some pyramids while keeping to the Lovecraftian theme.
I sat out the first Cthulhu Fluxx game, serving as a neutral play consultant. This game had no winner as an un-goal brought play to a close.

On Thursday, July 19th, the Old Ones rose in Memphis at Mid-South Hobbies and Games. We had 5 people, two completely new to Fluxx. As everyone else was familiar with the game, we started right off the bat with Cthulhu and after explaining the basic rules, the mayhem began in earnest. One thing I did do was run the Cult Clash card since we had new Fluxx players. If they were all old hands, I probably wouldn't have, but I've always had the opinion that having a no-win option does not leave the…Continue

I received my demo kit rite before going out of town for a wedding so I had to bring it along!! When I arrived at the wedding destination in Oregon I just had to get a group of people together to play this along with some other colorfully fun games CAH if you know what that is ;-). There was 8 of us who played, all Fluxx veterans and it was a HIT! I think more people tried to cause ungoals than actually win but everyone had a blast.
Fast forward passed the weekend and I was…Continue

As part of my local club, I scheduled a game day at Starbucks and put out the word that I would be demoing the new Cthulhu Fluxx today. Perhaps the Eldritch horrors that dwell within the deck were too much for those unsuspecting souls, as bad luck turned many of the RSVPs from 'Yes' to 'No'. In the end, I'm sad to say that only one person was able to make it. Still, I'll count it as a success as from that one newbie arose a new Fluxx…Continue
When I arrived home yesterday, a Cthulhu Fluxx demo kit was The Thing on the Doorstep. (And a good Thing too, lest I become The Lurker at the Threshold.) My daughter had been eagerly awaiting a new Fluxx game, and she insisted that we play right away. (Not that I resisted at all.)
Our first game went pretty smoothly. She would have won once or twice, if I hadn't changed the goal in the nick of time. New rules seemed slow in coming for this game. Maybe I didn't…
