We had 8 participants at the Regular Show Fluxx event at Comic Paradise Plus in Fairmont, West Virginia, on release day, July 25, 2014.
This was the first event I ran for Lonney Labs, but I have been demoing games for around 20 years, including being at the first Origins where Lonney Labs was to release FLUXX.
I originally learned about this game when searching for possible games for my sons, especially Alex who is really started to come of age to play games, related to Regular Show. By the end of the night, I was surprised by some of the results.
My family (Jodi, Alex, Campbell) joined me and the other participants were Greg, Dave, Mike, and Clay. None of them were familiar with FLUXX previously, so they were not sure what to expect. Recently I have been part of a new gaming group with a few of the guys, so I figured they would enjoy the game I just hoped it would hold there attention for a couple hours to get in as many games as desired.
There was no surprise in the interest in the game, and by the end of the night we had played 11 games, but the surprise came with the individual winning 6 of the games. My youngest son, Campbell, dominated the night. People were not letting him winning, and he did require some assistance with some of the cards as he is just starting to read, but he was learning cards based on the pictures and the amount of text.
Another surprise was that the individual whose interest in the game waned first and ready to quit or play something else was my oldest son, Alex. He does like the game and loves the theme, but he was ready halfway through to move on to more deeply involved strategic board games we play.
So, the evening was a great success and Campbell, the star of the night not only with his winning but his witty banter, asks to play the game every day since at home.
I plan to run another event there sometime in the near future.
I apologize for the tardiness of this report. Computer problems, picture problems, and so much else, but, finally, I can share this report, and pictures will be submitted.
Thanks for reading and thanks to those who attended for an entertaining evening!
